In this list, we’ll explain the differences between the six different settings on the Keurig 2.0.
While we’re pretty confident about the function of settings #1, 4, and 5, we’re making educated guesses on #s 2, 3, and 6 due to the lack of specific information on the Keurig website and user manuals. Keurig often does this to allow room for later feature updates.
Keurig 2.0 Brew Setting #1 – Purple
Brews up to 30oz of coffee with K-Carafe pods.
Keurig 2.0 Brew Setting #2 – Yellow
Brews travel mug-sized coffees from 12oz to 16oz.
Keurig 2.0 Brew Setting #3 – Green
Brews travel mug-sized Vue packs. The function isn’t specifically defined and leaves room for future Keurig innovations.
Keurig 2.0 Brew Setting #4 – Brown
Brews Vue pods for up to 10oz of coffee.
Keurig 2.0 Brew Setting #5 – Cyan
Brew two-stage cafe beverages that require milk frothings, such as lattes and cappuccinos.
Keurig 2.0 Brew Setting #6 – Orange
Brews cups of all sizes. There’s not much information on the sixth setting, but according to the Keurig website, it is used for additional beverage types like hot cocoas or pour-overs.

You list the purpose of each, but you do not explain how to do it. How do you use #5. How do you do the frothing. Do you have to insert two different pods?
You need the large orange k-cup that came with the Keurig. You fill it with milk up to the mesh then add your coffee. Stick it in and vwala latte.
Where can you find one of these, I didn’t get one with mine.
So if I understand you first put the milk in the bottom for about an inch up to first screen, then you put the ground above the screen mesh. When closed and started the water will run thru both.
Ditto here. I never received the orange one either. Just the orange shipping stopper and maintenance accessory.
Of course, like anything these days online, people post errorneous information sometimes it’s honest misinformation, other times is malicious.
Milk will leak thru the mesh.
Any liquid will leak out of the pod.
Where can you buy #5 Keurig 2.0 Brew Setting #5 – Cyan
Brew two-stage cafe beverages that require milk frothings, such as lattes and cappuccinos.) Store? Amazon?
I would also like to know about #5 as well! How does it work??
You can go to bed bath & beyond or Amazon would be your best bet. I love bed bath & beyond because I usually can find more accessories for the Keurig than you can at Walmart or Target. Especially different coffees in the pods that you can’t find anywhere else
How do I just get hot water in a caraf
put a refillable caraf pod into the machine empty, and run a caraf brew.
I have bought at Costa Rican blend coarse ground that is perfect for the French press automatic brewing system so what number would be best for me to use on the Keurig.. thanks in advance
2 or 3, with a good pod. I use a carafe pod to brew my 16 oz coffee mug because I can put in 3 tsp of coffee grounds. Regular pod only takes 2, and I use the strong settings so it brews slower.
What number brews an 8 ounce mug with room for milk ??
Thank You☕️
I would do #4 at either 4 or 6 ounces, depending on how much milk you want.
I really appreciate this information. It’s sad how Keurig is keeping this information secret claiming they will be used in the future, when in fact they’ve been saying this for over half a decade.
I don’t like how they are limiting you to only they’re coffee cups/ pods for this machine. I just got one used but like brand new and didn’t know it only takes their cups. That is probably why the girl got rid of it!
You can use any K-cup on the market. You do not need to use Keurig cups. You can even use a refillable cup and brew your favorite coffee.
i just want to use #2 i want to fill my travel mug how do i make it do a 16 oz pour?
I cleaned my Keurig yesterday and now the programming doesn’t allow me to select just k-cups. My display is only the numbers as above. I have tried to re-program the machine to just be on the k-cup setting but it doesn’t save my selection. Any advice?
You need to put the parts back correctly. Either you missed a part or didn’t put everything back in order.
Make sure the part that slides with the needle at the front of where the cup goes can slide back. The needle will be in the cavity where the cup goes so that it can puncture the cup.
Or, if you opened the top and connected the two wires (for the magnet), this would trick the machine to think the needle is pushed out of the way.
The part that slides is a magnet. When pushed to the front, it tells the machine a custom or bigger cup is in.
First, check to make sure a cup or anything is not blocking the needle from returning to default position. Make sure the part that slides with the needle at the front of where the cup goes can slide back. The needle will be in the cavity where the cup goes so that it can puncture the cup.
Or, if you opened the top, cut, and connected the two wires (for the magnet), this would trick the machine to think the needle is pushed out of the way. So, you would have to disconnect the wires and reconnect them to the magnet.
The part that slides is also a magnet. When pushed to the front, it tells the machine a custom or bigger cup is in.
My Keri’s will not do a med brew, it is always strong. How do I change this. Resetting did not work.
So on stage 5 it says about frothing. Can I actually get it to froth?? Also, I have a keurig 2.0 the one with the small water reservoir on the top back.
Is there a difference between the settings of k-cup packs, carafe, 2, 3, 4, 6 other than sizes? Do they all brew the same (if strong is not selected)?
